Sutter Health is seeking a Vice President to provide overall management and strategic direction for the activities and resources of the Clinical Laboratory Services for all entities across the Sutter Enterprise including the Hospitals, Medical Foundations and Shared Lab.
The Vice President of the Laboratory provides leadership and administrative oversight for planning, business growth, organizing, integrating, and staffing models for Clinical Laboratory Services (Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Immunology, Transfusion Service, Microbiology, Pathology, Specimen Collection, etc.) in all laboratory facilities throughout Sutter. The Vice President ensures optimal provision and coordination of laboratory services and resources across Sutter. The Vice President manages the development and implementation of sustainable business growth throughout the Bay and Valley Areas. The Vice President of Laboratory Services integrates activities across the inpatient, ambulatory and Shared Lab operations, ensuring strategic and operational alignment, as well as optimal standardization of equipment, supplies and processes. The Vice President of the Laboratory also ensures coordinated and harmonious working relationships within the acute care and ambulatory structures, including but not limited to other hospital departments, ambulatory care sites, Shared Lab, Laboratory Medical Directors, and Executives.
The Vice President reports directly to the President of System Enterprises. Reporting directly to the Vice President are the Bay Area Hospital and Foundation Executive Directors, the Valley Area Hospital and Foundation Executive Directors, the Executive Director of the Sutter Shared Lab, the VP & Medical Director of the Shared Lab, and the system-wide Directors of Pathology, Lab Quality & Compliance, Lab Business & Finance, and Lab Information Systems).
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred (MBA, MHA or other related area); California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License preferred. This position requires a minimum of five years’ experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in a large physician practice, health services or hospital setting.
